Project Overview
Tessera has officially completed its Clean Energy & Resiliency Hub project. This marks a major step forward for our organization and the Kitsap community. After nearly two years of planning and installation, our new solar and battery energy storage systems are fully operational at our Bremerton home office.
The project includes a 158 kW solar photovoltaic array mounted on new carports, a 125 kW / 220 kWh battery energy storage system, and electric vehicle charging. Together, these upgrades allow our building to operate on clean, renewable energy generated onsite. The system is designed to reduce strain on the grid during peak times, lower long-term energy costs, and advance Tessera’s commitment to sustainable operations.

Supporting The Community as a Resiliency Hub
With the new technology installed, our home office now has the ability to serve as a resiliency hub. A resiliency hub is a facility that can stay powered during major outages or natural disasters. With solar energy feeding into a large battery system, our office can continue producing power even if the surrounding grid goes down. This gives us the ability to provide a place for the Kitsap community to shelter during large power outages or natural disasters.
“This project allows us to show up for our community in a meaningful way. By investing in a space that can stay powered during major outages, we’re offering stability when our community needs it most,” Director of Government Affairs at Tessera, Catherine Johnson said. “The completion of this project is an exciting step forward for Tessera, and it represents our commitment to being a reliable partner in the Kitsap community.”
Partnership and Next Steps
This project is made possible through grant support from the Washington State Department of Commerce Climate Commitment Act. Sazan Group and Puget Sound Solar also played key roles in bringing this work to life.
This project marks an important step in Tessera’s commitment to sustainability and community resilience. We’re proud of the work that’s been done, and even more proud that it supports our community, employees, and neighbors with more stability and care.
As we continue to grow, we will keep investing in solutions that strengthen our purpose and the communities we serve.
