From coast to coast, our teams are prepared for the summer heat

When temperatures climb, are your facilities prepared to handle the heat?

HVAC systems work harder, energy consumption increases, and heat safety becomes a concern. At Tessera, our Facility Management services help customers stay ahead of these seasonal challenges through preventative maintenance programs designed to keep facilities comfortable, efficient, and ready for whatever summer brings.

Whether supporting facilities along the West Coast or maintaining operations through the hot, humid summers of the East Coast, our teams see firsthand how proactive maintenance helps facilities perform when environmental conditions become more demanding.

We went directly to the source and asked some site leaders from our East and West Coast teams, and this is what they had to say.

East Coast Team Leader

What steps are your teams taking to prepare the facilities for heat/significant temp changes?

“Our team really works well with task and checklists in place. We ensure that we keep a 100% completion ration which means that we have finished all required maintenance tasks on time. From that, it has given us a 95% uptime (HVAC systems working properly 95% of the time).”

What do you think are some of the best practices for customers/people to make when we go into summer season?

“Making sure to keep your filters clean, ensure inside vents and outside equipment are clear of debris to maintain good airflow.”

Has there ever been a time where the prep work made a huge difference?

“The preventative maintenance and prep work make a huge difference in both efficiency and uptime. When we have a stretch of weather in the mid 90’s, all spaces can maintain the minimum temperatures or better.”

West Coast Team Leader

What steps are your teams taking to prepare the facilities for heat/significant temp changes?

“At our site location, we have an HVAC shop that services most of the building on a preventative maintenance cycle. Heating and AC services are scheduled to be turned on or off depending on the seasonal temperatures. With our location, we generally don’t have fast temperature swings, but we still ensure our priority is year-round to keep our base facilities properly maintained so that there are no additional steps needed during these changes.”

What do you think are some of the best practices for customers/people to make when we go into the summer season?

“Educating people and employees on the hazards of heat-related illnesses and heat exposure. Ensuring they know the signs and symptoms, and when any become apparent, how to treat someone. We use our safety meeting topic to ensure employees receive first aid training, including heat-related illnesses and heat stress. We also ensure bottled water is readily available for employees to take with them throughout the day to stay hydrated.”

Has there ever been a time when the prep work made a huge difference?

“Yes, being prepared for the weather changes and educating employees has kept us from having any heat-related incidents.”
